is an international residential centre for writers and literary translators, located in Visby on Gotland, Sweden. BCWT is a working and meeting place for literary professionals. The Centre has eleven studios/rooms and is open all year round. The Centre welcomes applicants from all countries - but priority of residence is given to literary professionals from the countries of the Baltic Sea region and Scandinavia, i.e. Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden.

BWC APPEAL:
The Baltic Writers’ Council is a coalition of all the writers’ and translators’ organizations in the Baltic Sea Region.
The Swedish inquiry on cultural policy and the plan to deprive Authors’ Fund its autonomy and to put it under a new single authority was discussed last weekend during the Council’s General Assembly. The autonomous Swedish Authors’ Fund has served as a model to all the member countries of the Baltic Writers’ Council and the Council strongly protests against the plans to annex the Authors’ Fund and to diminish the authors’ right to decide over their own means.
