Quo Vadis, Ukraine? -
Exhibition of young Ukranian artists, poetry reading, screening and presentation of “Documenting Maidan”, the latest issue of the literary and culture magazine “Prostory” – an evening programme curated by Vasyl Lozynskyi in cooperation with BCWT. The authors of “Documenting Maidan” and the visual artists presented in the exhibition reflect on the civil protest “Euromaidan”, striving for democratic changes. The protest started in November 2013 in Kiev. The violence of the police against the peaceful student protest at Maidan in Kyiv widened the conflict. The artists express their solidarity with the revolutionary movement against totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and other countries. The exhibition displays photos of the very protest, stories of the wounded people in the project “Postcards from Maidan”, portraits of protesters. The exhibition presents the systemizing of information in the graphic project “Revolt ABC” and rethinking of the Soviet stereotypes that are still used in the mass media. The question is whether artistic and democratic approaches can be realized in the uncertain situation in Ukraine now? ?
